Airport "expert" lanes

Today's Annoyance: People who overestimate their abilities
Mantra of the Day: Yes, I am an expert traveler.

Ah, yes. The day when the jet set nation can speed through any airport's security lane effortlessly. Could that very day be a reality in the near future? My blogger buddy, Andi of Misadventures with Andi recently took this pic at the Midway Airport in Chicago, IL.

Apparently, it is up to each airport to decide whether or not to adopt the self-select lanes. TSA launched the first self-select lane in Salt Lake City a few years ago and today there are 50 U.S. airports with them. And if the process is moving along slowly in the U.S., I wonder how it's going in other countries (probably faster?).

Out of curiosity, is anyone involved in a registered or preferred traveler program?

Here's a link for you to see if airports in your area have self-select lanes and some instructions on how to be an expert traveler. Whatever you do, don't get in my way at the airport!
