Avoid getting bit by creepy crawlies with appropriate insect repellent. The most effective repellents on the market are: DEET, Picaridin, and oil of lemon eucalyptus (PMD). When choosing an insect repellent, consider: what types of insects are found in your destination city, how long the repellent works, its level of skin sensitivity, its odor (or lack thereof), and its level of toxicity. Check with your doctor and/or the National Pesticide Information Center if you are pregnant &/or choosing repellent for your kids.
